A Job..
I haven't blogged in a while because I have a job, yupp a job. How thrilling. Right? It's nice having the money and all but I don't have time for things. EVER! I work at my family's business called Learning Wrap-Ups (http://learningwrapups.com/). I work normally every day after school from 3 o' clock till 5 o' clock. But starting next week I work from 3 o' clock till 9 o' clock. Can you say social life? Well, lucky you. Cause I sure can't!! It's all good though. I work in the warehouse where I package everything and ship them everywhere around the world. My coworkers are pretty sweet. I work with my older sister, Beth, and this other guy named Kashe. Since working there my older sister and I have this new bond that we have never really had before and we don't argue about lame things. It's pretty awesome. :) I love having a job.

My cute little unicorn from a cute little boy :)
Project T-Rex
At the beginning of each school year, the DECA chapter gets together to decide what written project we could work on. Taylor and I were assigned to the Community Service Project. Our adviser, Ralph, didn't tell us what we were going to raise money for or anything. We had to come up with our own benefit and raise money for it.
Ralph had a son named Rex that was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth. He lived through his life with this disease, having to go to the hospital if he even caught the small common cold. When he was 14 the doctors removed the upper lobe of his right lung, From that point the doctors were talking of the day when Rex would need a lung transplant. The doctors goal was to keep him alive up until he was eighteen where survival rates from a transplant jump from 30% to 90%. When Rex turned eighteen the doctors found that he would not only need one lung, but two. He had a 14% lung capacity. The doctors dug deeper, Rex's liver was not in good shape. If he were to go into a surgery to get two new lungs, his liver would not be able to handle the stress of the transplant and would quit functioning. So it was deemed that Rex would receive a double lung and liver transplant. The transplant would take place in St. Louis where the family of four would have to split up for six months or more. The mother, Carol, and Rex would live there until the organs became available and then six months after that for recovery.
Taylor and I knew this story and we knew what we needed to benefit. Rex was 20 when Project T-Rex started. We set up different activities to raise money, car shows, spaghetti dinner, a fundraiser night at Costa Vida, and multiple others. Through these fundraisers and various anonymous donors we raised $50,988. This money would help pay for the family's living expenses in St. Louis.
When I met Rex it was a year ago today (St. Patrick's Day) and my first impression was "This kid is way to happy to be in his condition" But then I realized that that's what made Rex happy, was his condition. Cystic Fibrosis is what made Rex Rex. He has gone through so much in his life. One day I asked him how he could be so happy all the time and he shared my all time favorite quote with me "The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it, you can either laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh, crying gives me a headache!" -Sister Hinckley. He then told me that if he was always a downer on things he would always be in pain. He told me "Pain is all in the head, if I let myself think that nothing is wrong with me and trust that I will be able to live my life normally, yeah, sure I'll be in the hospital each time I get sick but that never stops me from being happy."
Rex is someone I strive to be like more and more everyday. Sadly, Rex died back in November. He finally took his first deep breath. All I need to know to make me happy is that I know he died happy.
DECA State!!
DECA season is almost to an end!!! I would now proudly like to announce that I am the new Utah State DECA Executive Vice President. :D A lot of hard work is ahead of me. We had our State competition and I spent the whole time campaigning and competing (my cousin, Taylor, was mad but she wanted me to win so she helped). Through campaigning I met so many different people from all over the state, reconnected with friends that I made last year, and I got to speak in front of everyone twice!! :S (That was easy, why can't sacrament talks be easy) When I was not campaigning I was competing. My cousin and I competed in our role play Hospitality Services, we didn't even go to finals for that one. It's okay though we just needed to win in our written event. So our written event it was a Community Service Project. We won second place in the state for that project earning ourselves a place to go to the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida!! Yay!! I'm going to Disney World!!!

Movies movies movies
Over the past two weeks I have seen two movies in the theaters, it's very weird. I normally never go to the movies ever. But anyway, I saw The Roommate and The Eagle.
The Roommate was a scary movie, like not one of the ones that's "scary" but it was scary, not so scary that I was screaming but I jumped a few times. Normally I don't get scared during movies cause the are way to fake for me. But in the Roommate things like that could really happen, going off to college and getting a roommate that is bipolar and needs to know exactly where you are and what not. It's scary. I don't want to give you the whole plot but it's a good movie.
The Eagle was awesome!! I loved it. Channing Tatum is an awesome actor. Normally you have him as some hot jock but in this one he was a lead commander in a Roman Army and had to revive his family name cause his dad lost the eagle.. It's a great movie, loads of action. I really enjoyed it.

Life is Good (Eh, kinda)
Crazy crazy crazy. Life gets busy, DECA is taking over my life. It really is a good thing I have a passion for it or I would be dead from stress or something. I've spent everyday the past two weeks after school in the computer lab working on my State Officer Application. From this experience I have learning that I get distracted very easily. It really is a good thing we aren't allowed to get on Facebook at school or else I would get nothing done. I've also learned that you have to be patient with yourself or your just going to be upset with yourself. One last thing I learned is that my mom knows everything. She is the most amazing woman I know. Wow, like you tell her things ranging from schoolwork to growing up to outer space to church topics and she knows everything. I love my mom so much. She is seriously awesome.
One really awesome thing that has happened is I received a Valentine's gift last Thursday from a wonderful missionary :)... Haha he sent me a unicorn pillow pet :) How cute is that? He informed me that I was not allowed to open it until Valentines day so.. I waited. It honestly was the hardest four days of my life!! (that's over exaggerating a bit..) I'll take some pictures and put it on here sometime. I was been really good about not opening it even though there has been some really close calls. My mom has helped me out. She'd tell me "Michelle, now how do you think Ben would feel if you opened it early?" She makes me feel guilty, but I'm grateful because I know I would've been upset with myself if I opened it early. Well, just another reason to love my mom. :)
The Valentine's Dance just happened at my school though. It was weird some of the time, but fun the rest of the time. We went to SubZero, it's this ice cream place in Centerville where they freeze it with liquid nitrogen. It's fairly entertaining to watch. Then we went to a girl in my groups house and played monopoly. I've never really been patient enough with that game at all. But the We ate dinner at my grandma's house in her big party room and had breakfast.. A little backwards I guess but it was still good :)
