DECA Talk and Singing

DECA is a business club at school and I am the chapter vice president. We just had our first competition last week on Thursday. My cousin, Taylor, and I were in a group. It was so fun. We competed in Hospitality Services. Our situation: We are assigned to make a hotel more friendly to the extended stay guests (the guest that can stay anywhere from three weeks to six months). Taylor and I came up with the idea to have free wi-fi and phone calls between the hours of five pm and eight pm so they didn't have to use all their minutes on the cell phone. We also brought up the idea to have different activities so the guests wouldn't be bored. There were many ideas, but after the role play we had to take the test. Yeah... one hundred questions plus my ADD.. not very successful but I did better than I thought. We didn't win anything but it was fun and good practice for region and state.

Last month my family was asked to speak in sacrament on families. I have sang in sacrament multiple times and in multiple wards. I have spoken in sacrament three times total now. The first time was when I was eight (with my family), the second time was when i was thirteen (with my family), and just this last Sunday (with my family). I was scared. I don't know why I was scared, I can talk about revamping a hotel with just fifteen minutes of preparation and present for ten minutes to one or two complete strangers and not be nervous at all, but no, you put me in front of people that I've grown up with for two minutes and I get so nervous. It was crazy. But thanks to a great friend named Taylor and an amazing letter from a missionary, Ben, I got through it. I ended up feeling great about it. I would prefer to not speak. :) I love my family and I beleive I have the best family I could ask for.

The past two days the choir has been going to Roy High School to practice for our region honor choir. We sang and stood for sixteen hours the past two days. My voice is shot, but I could not have asked for a better experiance. The director was Becky Jarman, she is the music teacher at Davis High School and probably one of the most talented people I have ever met. I'm so happy I have my voice and am able to sing well. Can't wait for another opportunity to share my talents with other people :)

  2. Hey Michelle I would love for you to share your letters from Ben on his missionary blog. At least the parts you don't mind sharing, ;) so we can get a fuller picture of his experiences. Leave me your email address on his blog in the comments and I'll send you an invite! Looking forward to hearing from you! :)
